11th ZilHijj (Fourth Day of Hajj)
11th, 12th and 13th ZilHijj are known as “Days of Rami” in the terminology of Hajj rites. If one could not do immolation (sacrifice) or Tawaf-e-Ziarat till now, he should do it today positively. During these three days Rami is the only worship for which pilgrims stay in Mina as ordained by the Apostle of God. Staying outside Mina like Mak`kah or at any other place is not permitted.
Rami
On 11th of ZilHijj the pilgrims has to lapidate (stoning) all the three Satan (Jamarats). The time of this Rami (stoning) begins after the mid-day and lasts upto a little before early morning prayer the next day.
The three pillars (Jamarah) symbolizing Satan are located at the center of Mina over a distance of 272 meters. The smallest of them lies at the far end of the village in the direction of Muzdalfah. It is called al-Jamara-s-Soghra or the First Pillar.
The second pillar, named al-Jamara-l-Wosta (Middle Pillar) is located 156 meters further in the direction of Mak`kah.
The third pillar called Jamarah-al-Aqabah (greater pillar) is 116 meters beyond the second one again in the direction of Makkah.
On 10th of ZilHijj, pilgrims have to stone only the last pillar (Jamara-al-Aqaba). They have to hurl seven pebbles one by one, saying, “God is great. There is no God but Allah”.
In accordance with tradition, they will abstain from saying any other word or making any other invocation.
On 11th ZilHijj the pilgrims has to stone all the three pillars beginning from small to Middle and then the Greater pillar with seven pebbles on each pillar.
